Forgive me Mother

Kony's family

Join Resolution:Possible and CoDoc tomorrow evening in the David Sizer Lecture Theatre at Queen Mary University for this special collaboration hosted by London student society New Turn.

This event will screen the documentary ‘Forgive me mother’ directed and produced by CoDoc. The film is a testament of the young people of northern Uganda who were both victims and perpetrators in the conflict between the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) the Ugandan government. Over 30,000 children between the ages of 8-15 were abducted by the LRA, and today over 90% of the group still consists of abducted youth. Those who have returned wish to tell their story – of their thoughts on life inside the LRA, their struggle to re-integrate into their own communities and their pleas for forgiveness for the atrocities they committed.

CoDoc founders and directors Heidi Lindvall and Guy Gunaratne will introduce the film and join the breakout session after the screening.

Resolution:Possible will lead the breakout session, giving participants the chance to voice their opinion on what they have just seen, but also get the valuable opportunity to hear other views and thoughts. Together in small breakout groups, they will explore the themes presented by the film in groups. Themes include justice and forgiveness, the relevance of community based justice alongside international justice as well as the role of documentaries themselves in starting conversations and communicating information.

Resolution:Possible and CoDoc both firmly believe that our role is not to provide answers, but to ask questions which will lead to constructive conversations. We hope you will join us in this opportunity to be part of the conversation.
